1. Red Top Mountain State Park (Acworth GA)

With over 1,500 acres of forest and Lake Allatoona shoreline, Red Top Mountain is an adventure playground for you and your pup. There are more than 15 miles of dog-friendly trails, plus options to swim, bike, camp, or fish so you can easily make a whole day of it.

If your dog loves water and adventure, these are the trails to take. Our pups love to hike and wade in the water along the trails. The Iron Hill loop trail is our fav. Bring your sandals and bathing suit if you want to join in on the fun!

Highlights:

Mix of wooded and lakeside paths
Optional water-based activities
Leashed dogs welcome throughout

2. Mt Tabor Park (Dallas GA)

Mt. Tabor Park is a local go-to in Dallas GA for both pups and their people. The shady trails wind through the woods and around the ball fields, making it a fun mix of peaceful nature and community vibes. It’s an easy spot to sneak in a walk or jog with your dog, and there’s plenty of open space to hang out after your adventure.

The Pine Pong trail is our fav because it is a scenic short loop in the shady woods and around the pond which is perfect for our pups. There are also over 6 miles of trails throughout the woods if your dogs need a longer hike.

Highlights:

Shady wooded trails for chill walks or jogs with your pup
Loops around the pond, ball fields and rec areas keep things interesting
Tons of space to relax or play once the walk is done

3. Sara Babb Park Trail (Dallas GA)

Right in the heart of Dallas GA, the new Sara Babb Park Trail is a great spot for a laid-back walk with your pup. The paved loop is just under 4 miles, surrounded by pretty woods, and super easy on the paws. It’s never too crowded, making it perfect for a relaxed outing with your dog (and even the whole family).

Our favorite part of these trails are the beautiful bridges and long, wooden boardwalks. The scenery in the Fall is hard to top and the views from the summit are breathtaking! Make sure to take some water for you and your dogs because it is a steep climb in some areas.

Highlights:

Smooth, paved loop trail (just under 4 miles)
Shady, wooded views and plenty of space
Dog-friendly and family-friendly with nearby playgrounds & ball fields

4. Leone Hall Price Park (Cobb County)

Leone Hall Price Park is a hidden gem in West Cobb where dogs and their humans can escape into the woods for a little peace and quiet. The trails are mostly natural surfaces that wind through shady forests, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll with your pup. It’s not usually crowded, so you’ll feel like you’ve got the place all to yourself.

This park is so beautiful! We love the fields where you can see lots of birds and butterflies. As you go further into the park, there is a small stream with some sandy beaches that you and your pup can play in. The scenery is gorgeous and it’s not a very well known park so sometimes you’ll have it all to yourself.

Highlights:

Peaceful, wooded trails that are great for leashed walks
Natural paths with plenty of shade and a stream for hot days
Quiet and less crowded than bigger parks nearby

5. Allatoona Creek Park (Acworth) GA

Looking for something a little more low-key? Check out local favorites like Allatoona Creek Trail, Patriot’s Park Loop, Turtle Back Loop, or Logan Farm Park Loop. These spots are go-tos for nearby dog parents who just want a relaxed walk with their pups on leash.

The trails here are mostly flat which is nice for senior dogs and a more leisurely stroll. The first part is a large field and as you go further back, there’s lots of shade in the wooded area. Our family loves these trails. Something for everyone!

Highlights:

Smaller trails close to town
Great for casual walks and neighborhood outings
Usually less crowded than major parks

Right in Acworth, Pitner Road Dog Park is a pup favorite! It’s got fenced-in off-leash areas where dogs can run wild, plus nearby trail loops like Turtle Back Loop if you want to mix in a scenic stroll through the woods.

We absolutely LOVE this huge dog park. It has plenty of space with separate big and small dog areas, tons of shade, mulch so it doesn’t get too muddy, and a cool trail within the fenced-in park.
